Solestrom Swimwear Launches New Line of Natural Aquatic Apparel
(ContentDesk) November 18, 2004 -- Solestrom Swimwear has created a novel line of distinctive swimsuits optimally suited for sunworshippers everywhere.
Made from Merskin(tm), Solestrom's exclusive ocean leather, the suits have a feel and texture similar to chamois and can conform comfortably to all body shapes and sizes. Solestrom's suits are fully washable, dry rapidly and are available in a variety of colors that will not fade or bleed.
Solestrom designer and founder Mira Odedra, began her career creating lingerie.
"We primarily designed in velvet and PVC for the goth/fetish/industrial world." From there, Mira's interests gradually gravitated towards swimwear.
"I became more interested in natural fabrics and materials and promoting eco-friendly design." It was here she hit upon the idea of adapting ocean leather for swim suits.
"Canadian processing plants produce tonnes of this material daily. . .so there is a steady supply of raw material to work with."????After the skins are tanned, Solestrom uses an eco-sensitive proprietary process to dye and waterproof the leather using natural ingredients.
Dissatisfied with most designs currently available, Mira has decided to try her own hand at creating suits that part with the traditional styles.
"The designs, and the choice of fabric,. . .steer away from a classic bikini shape.
Our Merskin(tm) ocean leather is a very innovative but natural fabric for swimwear--it's a soft, supple and comfortable leather product."
With 10 designs currently in the line up and more on the way, Solestrom offers something unique for everyone from visionary bikini designs to exotic wrap arounds made from nonshrinking acrylic and spandex knits. Her residential location has not been without it's influence on her work.
